A 2010 action-adventure title called Mafia II was created by 2K Czech and released by 2K Games. It was made available in August for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows. The game is the follow-up to Mafia from 2002 and the second in the Mafia series. The story revolves around young Sicilian-American mobster and war veteran Vito Scaletta, who gets entangled in a power struggle between the Mafia crime families in the city while attempting to repay his father’s debts and establish a better lifestyle with his best friend. The story is set in a town full of Empire Bay between 1945 and 1951.
The game’s world can be explored on foot or by car, and it is played from a third-person perspective. A “wanted” system that controls the aggressivity of the response from law enforcement agencies can be triggered by the player character’s criminal activity. 2003 saw the start of development, not long after the original Mafia game was released. At the time of its release, Mafia II received generally favourable reviews from critics, who praised it for its gameplay, story, and characters while criticising its limited world design and the absence of some elements found in other sandbox games.
